Is there such a thing as buying a bag of weeds seed to put on some barren turf?

A friend of mine told me about some mysterious bag of 'leftover seeds' that companies throw together and sell as some bag of weeds thing. I have looked for it but cant find anything about it. All I find are stupid drug references about buying weed. I am not talking about that. I am talking about landscaping.
